The first of four summer events in the Summer with Seniors series, organised by the EGTC Via Carpatia in cooperation with the Ko\u0161ice Regional Organisation of the Union of Pensioners in Slovakia, took place in Ro\u017e\u0148ava. The event offered seniors and the wider public an afternoon filled with folklore, traditional cuisine, music and shared experiences. The pleasant atmosphere was further enhanced by the visit of Rastislav Trnka, President of the Ko\u0161ice Self-Governing Region, who met with participants and tasted the regional specialities prepared for the occasion.<\/p>\n
The varied cultural programme featured senior folklore groups from different parts of the region. The performers included Bab\u010da from Mlynky, Radzim from Vy\u0161n\u00e1 Slan\u00e1, the men\u2019s singing group Pekn\u00e1 dolinka from Vlachovo, the country dance group Rozkvet from Prakovce, the singing groups Bystr\u00e4ne from Ro\u017e\u0148avsk\u00e9 Bystr\u00e9, Dob\u0161inky from Dob\u0161in\u00e1 and Rozmarija from Vinn\u00e9, as well as the folklore group Tepli\u010danka from Zempl\u00ednska Teplica. The programme concluded with a performance by the band Basawell, whose energetic show encouraged visitors to dance and created a lively summer atmosphere.<\/p>\n
Visitors also had the opportunity to taste traditional regional specialities prepared by local branches of the Union of Pensioners in Slovakia from Go\u010dovo, \u010cierna Lehota, Jablonov nad Tur\u0148ou, Vlachovo and Rakovnica. The menu included halu\u0161ky, Gemer-style potato dumplings, bean goulash, pirohy and tripe in paprika sauce. Younger visitors were also well catered for and enjoyed the afternoon in the Fun Zone, which featured inflatable castles and face painting.<\/p>\n
