The Active Ageing Centre is celebrating its 3rd anniversary! Thanks to the EGTC VIA CARPATIA \u2013 whose members include the Ko\u0161ice Self-Governing Region and the Borsod-Aba\u00faj-Zempl\u00e9n County \u2013 an innovative approach has helped improve the quality of life for both Slovak and Hungarian seniors. At the centre, age is not an obstacle, but an advantage.<\/p>\n
\ud83e\udd1d A Partnership That Delivers Results<\/p>\n
The centre is proof that when municipalities, regions, and international partners join forces, projects with real impact on quality of life can emerge. Thanks to support and mutual trust, seniors can now spend their time actively, with dignity, and together \u2013 regardless of which side of the border they live on.<\/p>\n
\ud83e\uddd3\ud83d\udc75 Since its beginning, the centre has been the result of cooperation that transcends borders.
\nThrough the creation of a dedicated space and a cross-border team of ambassadors, the centre has become a place many now call their second home \u2013 a place where seniors meet extraordinary people and discover engaging activities. Dance classes, strength and wellness exercises, creative workshops, gardening, lectures, discussions, quizzes, trips, and cooking together \u2013 all of this creates a colourful mosaic of daily life at the centre.<\/p>\n
Over the past three years, more than 990 activities and meetings have taken place \u2013 but most importantly, friendships and lasting memories have been formed. The database already includes over 800 members, with more than 30 of them regularly leading various activities for fellow seniors. The oldest member is 92 years old.<\/p>\n
