MOUNT GREENFRA Project Brings Green Solutions Beyond the Ko\u0161ice <\/strong>Self-Governing Region<\/strong><\/p>\n

MOUNT GREENFRA \u2013 Mount Green Infrastructure Development for Water Valorisation is an innovative project aimed at promoting the development of green infrastructure and sustainable water management in the cross-border region of Slovakia and Hungary.<\/p>\n

The project is funded by the European Regional Development Fund under the Interreg VI-A Hungary-Slovakia.<\/p>\n

Total project budget:<\/strong> \u20ac1 379 008, 26 EUR<\/p>\n

Total EU funding:<\/strong> \u20ac1 103 206,60 EUR<\/p>\n

Total national budget contributions:<\/strong> 186 057,52 EUR<\/p>\n

Four partners are involved in the project implementation:<\/p>\n

The European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation Via Carpatia, based in Ko\u0161ice, plays a key role in this project and is responsible for two main activities:<\/p>\n

1. Competition for high schools in the Ko\u0161ice region and Borsod-Aba\u00faj-Zempl\u00e9n <\/strong>region and the construction of green walls in schools:<\/strong> The aim is to engage students
\nin developing environmental solutions. The top three teams from Slovakia and Hungary will win green walls for their schools.<\/p>\n

2. Tree planting in the municipality of Buzica to mitigate soil erosion and pollution: <\/strong>Four hectares of greenery will be planted to help stabilize the soil and increase environmental awareness in the region.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Through this project, the European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation Via Carpatia not only improves environmental quality but also educates and motivates the younger generation. The project\u2019s significance lies in its innovative solutions for protecting natural resources, utilizing rainwater, and supporting biodiversity. It introduces practical environmental measures with a
\nlong-term positive impact on the region and its inhabitants, serving as a model for other cross-border sustainability and ecological development initiatives.<\/p>\n

The MOUNT GREENFRA project is an example of how cross-border cooperation can contribute to a sustainable future. The benefits of this collaboration include sharing experiences and best practices among partners, more efficient resource utilization, the development of innovative solutions to environmental challenges, and strengthening ties between communities on both sides of the border.<\/p>\n

We have prepared an educational guide and presentation focusing on blue-green solutions, environmental protection and sustainable development. These materials serve as practical resources for schools, educators and the general public, supporting environmental education and raising awareness. They provide clear and accessible information, practical examples and inspiration for applying nature-based solutions in everyday life.<\/p>\n
