Active ageing – Create a cross border team of ambassadors in order to improve the quality of life for Slovak and Hungary seniors
Thanks to the Interreg V-A Slovakia-Hungary Cooperation Programme, two new senior Centers for active aging will be established on the territory of the Košice region and the Boršod-Abaúj-Zemplén county. The SKHU Ambassadors project represents an innovative approach aimed primarily at improving the quality of life of seniors, promoting their health, physical activity, and socialization.
The total budget of the Via Carpatia EGTC for this project is 101 210 EUR. Of this amount, the contribution from the European Regional Development Fund of 86 028,50 EUR.
The Via Carpatia EGTC will establish a senior Active Aging Center in the Košice Region, in which visitors will be able to spend their free time, learn, be part of physical activities, and also make new contacts. A senior community will be set up to take part in cross-border volunteer days and workshops, thanks to which seniors in Slovakia and Hungary will be able to exchange knowledge and experiences. In addition, an expert group (SKHU Ambassadors) will be set up to disseminate its knowledge in areas such as healthy lifestyles, financial literacy and sport to seniors.
Thanks to the project, the Via Carpatia EGTC will support the improvement of the level of social information structure and services for seniors at the border, the strengthening of the institutional cooperation between Hungary and Slovakia through the activities of the Centers for Active Aging. Our goal is to increase the overall interest of seniors in active aging.
The result of the cooperation of business partners will be the Favor Bank, an online platform through which seniors and institutions, on the basis of volunteering, can provide help to those who need it most.
The project partners, the European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation Via Carpatia in Slovakia and BORA 94 in Hungary, will carry out pilot programs and institutional cooperation will be enhanced by setting up joint services. The project and its activities will be offered to the widest possible population of seniors over the age of 60, with an emphasis on equal access on both sides of the cross-border regions.
The project is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund.
