Summer with Seniors in Strážske brought together folklore, traditions and the flavours of Zemplín

Strážske became another stop in the Summer with Seniors series of events, which brings music, traditions and opportunities for people to come together across the region during the summer.

The folklore programme featured the ensembles Tarnavčan, Rozmarija, Klubovanka, Záhorčan, Radosť, Tepličanka, Vidumaňec, Michalovčan, Lady Babenky and Sobrančanky. Visitors were able to enjoy a colourful showcase of traditional folk songs and customs from the Zemplín region.

The event also featured regional specialities prepared by local branches of the Union of Pensioners in Slovakia. These included Tarnava-style pogačka, homemade and Zemplín-style stuffed cabbage rolls, čeregi, pancakes and pork with cabbage.

The event was also attended by Rastislav Trnka, President of the Košice Self-Governing Region. Together with representatives of the Union of Pensioners in Slovakia, he met with seniors and performers. On this occasion, Ján Butala, Chairman of the Union of Pensioners in Slovakia, expressed his thanks to them.

The Summer with Seniors event in Strážske thus brought together folklore, traditional cuisine and a pleasant afternoon gathering, while highlighting the rich cultural heritage of the Zemplín region.
