Handing over the electric composter and bins for separate waste collection
Within one of its priorities, the European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation Via Carpatia supports the development of the circular economy in the Košice Region and thus contributes to a greener region.
Therefore, in cooperation with the Faculty of Economics of the Technical University in Košice, on September 20, 2021, we ceremoniously handed over to the secondary schools an electric composter and bins for separate waste collection, which were purchased within the CITYCIRCLE project. These bins and a composter will help schools in waste separation and the transition to a circular economy.
This event was held on the grounds of the Spojená školy Opatovská cesta in Košice.
The handover took place with the participation of the chairman of the Košice self-governing region, the dean of the Faculty of Economics of the Technical University in Košice and involved schools: Spojená škola na Opatovskej ceste in Košice, the Secondary Technical Technical School in Spišská Nová Ves and the Štefan Moyzes Grammar School in Moldava nad Bodvou.
The event also included the ceremonial opening of the garden being built and at Sojená škola in Košice. The garden was officially opened by the chairman of the Košice self-governing region, the dean of the Faculty of Economics and the director of the Spojená škola.
In addition, Priatelia Zeme (the Friends of the Earth) organization organized the education of students of the Spojená škola, called “Enviro Day”. During this activity, students could attend theoretical lectures, practical demonstrations and view a document in the field of separation and recycling of municipal waste as one of the forms of implementation of the circular economy.
